Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 16. The Argentine federal police have confirmed the news to the media. Argentina’s TN news channel was the first to report the news.

More disturbing details were discovered on the room’s desk, including a box of Dove soap, matches, candle residue, foil and a powdery substance believed to be cocaine. A lighter and a burned soda can lid were also discovered in the debris, painting a picture of desperation and chaos.

Liam Payne was pronounced dead at around 5:11 p.m. local time. SAME head Crescenti said that Liam Payne’s injuries were so severe that “there was no possibility of recovery.”
