Beatlemania is touching down in the U.S. yet again — this time on TV screens!

A new Beatles documentary, produced by Martin Scorsese and capturing the band’s 1964 introduction to the U.S., will arrive on Disney+ on Nov. 29. With director David Tedeschi at the helm, Beatles ’64 is set to follow “the electrifying moment of The Beatles’ first visit to America,” per a Monday, Oct. 14 announcement from the streamer.

An official description for the film teases “never-before-seen footage” of the Fab 4 and their fans as Paul McCartney,  John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in February 1964 before playing to 73 million viewers on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Beatles ’64 offers “a rare glimpse into when The Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time,” per Disney+, featuring new interviews with Starr, McCartney and fans “whose lives were transformed by The Beatles.” Featuring footage from documentarians Albert and David Maysles, restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand, the film will also share a look at their live gigs on Ed Sullivan and at the Washington, DC Coliseum, demixed by WingNut Films and remixed by Giles Martin.

Executive producers for Beatles ’64 include Margaret Bodde, McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde, Mikaela Beardsley, with Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn.

“Beatles ’64 presents the spectacle, but also tells a more intimate behind the scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they experienced unimaginable fame,” the description reads.

The Beatles

Timed with the documentary’s release, seven American Beatles albums, “analog cut for 180-gram audiophile vinyl from their original mono master tapes,” will be released globally on Nov. 22: Meet The Beatles!; The Beatles’ Second Album; A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track); Something New; The Beatles’ Story; Beatles ’65; and The Early Beatles. A box set will also be available.

Of course, this won’t be Disney+’s first go at a Beatles documentary, as  Peter Jackson‘s The Beatles: Get Back  previously released on the streamer in 2021, again featuring never-before-seen footage of the Fab 4 from 1969.

Scorsese, 81, has previously co-produced and directed 2011’s George Harrison: Living in the Material World, which took home two Emmys at the time. Tedeschi served as editor on the project.
