After Fans Were Shocked That Sabrina Carpenter’s Grandparents Attended Her Seriously Sexy Concert, Sabrina Responds.Linh

In recent years, Sabrina Carpenter has become renowned for being a pop star who isn’t afraid to embrace her sexuality, with the 25-year-old singer being among the first to poke fun at how “vulgar” she can be.

Her reputation arguably started to grow during her Emails I Can’t Send tour, which kicked off in 2022 and is when Sabrina began a new tradition of ad-libbing a brand new outro to her song “Nonsense” every night.

The lyrics were always customized to the city, state, or country where she was performing, and usually NSFW.

“I just wanna ride him like a rodeo / But first he gotta grow it like Pinocchio / Sorry I’m so vulgar, San Antonio,” she said during a San Antonio show.

Sabrina continued the tradition while supporting Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour, singing in Singapore: “Told that boy to sit me down on all fours / I told that boy go faster, now I’m all sore / You hit a little different here, Singapore.”

And the lyrics she penned for her BBC Live Lounge performance last year ended up being so X-rated that the BBC opted to edit them out of the final recording.

Referencing the slang definition of “BBC,” which is commonly used with racial connotations in pornography, Sabrina had sung: “I’m American I am not British / So BBC it stands for something different / This live lounge is just so lit because I’m in it.”

Earlier this year, the star poked fun at the BBC’s decision to remove her outro when she returned to the UK for their Radio 1 Big Weekend festival.

This time, she cheekily sang: “BBC said I should keep it PG / BBC I wish I had it in me / There’s a double meaning if you dig deep.”

In an interview with Cosmopolitan earlier this year, Sabrina acknowledged the fact that her “Nonsense” tradition was making people think of her in a certain kind of way, sharing: “It’s funny too, writing the outros, because I feel like I’ve learned a lot more about sexuality through writing those than people think.”

“I think people think I’m just obnoxiously horny,” she added. “When in reality, writing them comes from the ability to not be fearful of your sexuality as opposed to just not being able to put it down.”

And while she has since retired the custom outros, Sabrina has continued to lean into her sexuality through her music and live shows.

Her latest album, Short n’ Sweet, released in August, includes several songs full of innuendos, including “Bed Chem,” which is widely believed to be about her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Barry Keoghan.

“I bet we’d have really good bed chem / How you pick me up, pull ’em down, turn me ’round, oh, it just makes sense / How you talk so sweet when you’re doing bad things, that’s bed chem,” she repeats in the chorus.

This song also contains the eyebrow-raising lyric: “Come right on me, I mean camaraderie,” which went viral on TikTok almost immediately after its release.

“Wanna try out my fuzzy pink handcuffs?” Sabrina then asks in arguably her most sexually-charged song, “Juno.”

“Wanna try out some freaky positions? / Have you ever tried this one?” she continues, before singing: “Adore me / Hold me and explore me / I’m so fucking horny.”

Notably, Sabrina teases different sex positions on stage when performing this song on her Short n’ Sweet tour, which kicked off last week.

In addition, Sabrina has become famed for her seriously sexy outfits on this tour, including custom Victoria’s Secret lingerie and vintage-style babydoll nightgowns.

And as much as her fans adore Sabrina’s entire brand, with many praising the way that she expertly toes the line of embracing her sexuality while still appealing to the female gaze, they can’t help but wonder how she manages to be so overtly sexual in front of family members who come to her shows.

But in a new interview with Time, Sabrina has answered that question — and insisted that it really isn’t a big deal because her family are just in awe of her staggering success.

Referring to the fact that she shouted out her grandparents at her sold-out Madison Square Garden show, Sabrina told the publication: “My fans online are like: ‘I can’t believe she’s bending over in front of her grandparents!’”

“I’m like: ‘Girl, they are not paying attention to that!’” she went on. “They’re just like: ‘I can’t believe all these people are here.’”

Sabrina also had a message for those who don’t approve of the way that she dresses on stage, explaining: “To that I just say: Don’t come to the show, and that’s OK.”

“Truthfully, the scariest thing in the world is getting up on a stage in front of that many people and having to perform as if it’s nothing,” she then added. “If the one thing that helps you do that is the way you feel comfortable dressing, then that’s what you’ve got to do.”
