Distressed cat owner seeks professional help for trapped feline in tree.

November 2, 2023 by Nhat Anh

Facing a lack of solutions, the distressed owner of a cat trapped in a tree for four days finally seeks the help of a professional tree pruner.

Often, when a cat finds itself stuck at the top of a tree and no one can get it down, we call on tree pruning specialists. This is what happened recently in a town in Kentucky, in the United States.

Grace Perrine , who recently lived in Berea , didn’t know what to do to save one of her two cats. The female , Scarlet , had in fact climbed a tree, probably after chasing a squirrel, and was unable to come down.

For 4 days, the one and a half year old cat had been stuck about fifteen meters above ground, reported the Richmond Register . She was cold , hungry and exhausted.

Relatives, neighbors, municipal officials, firefighters and local animal control officers tried to rescue Scarlet , but none of them succeeded.

Desperate, Grace Perrine ended up launching a call for help on Facebook . A post seen by a resident named Sueann Fields , who immediately contacted Brett Parker . The latter is the head of the local pruning company Match Cut Tree Bro’s LLC . He had already rescued cats in the past.

On Saturday December 31, 2022, the pruner arrived on site with all his equipment. He climbed the tree and was able to reach the cat’s location, but the cat was far too wary and nervous to allow a direct approach.

Lasso rescue

Brett Parker then improvised a lasso and put it around Scarlet ‘s body , which he then slowly lowered. Halfway up, however, the animal became agitated and thus broke free of the rope. As soon as it landed, the feline ran away to take refuge in the neighboring house.

A few hours later, Scarlet decided to return home, safe and sound. She returned to her family just in time for New Year’s Eve.

Grateful to Brett Parker , Grace Perrine wanted to pay him for his intervention, but the big-hearted pruner refused the reward.

Here is the video of the rescue, posted by the professional on his company’s Facebook page:
