Dallas Wings general manager Curt Miller couldnt resist taking an unsubtle dig at the Los Angeles Sparks after his former team failed to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
On Sunday, the Wings sent shockwaves across the WNBA after securing the first overall pick in the leagues Draft lottery, despite the Sparks boasting best odds to obtain the selection. With the highly-coveted pick, Dallas is expected to select UConn star Paige Bueckers, whos averaging 21.3 points, four assists and 3.7 rebounds through three games this season.
Shortly after winning the Bueckers sweepstakes, Miller directed a playful jab at the Sparks. Back in September, the former head coach departed Los Angeles following two seasons at the helm after the two sides mutually agreed to part ways.
Addressing his ousting, Sparks governor and managing partner Eric Holoman said in an official statement, On behalf of our ownership group and franchise, I would like to thank Coach Miller for his passion and commitment to the Sparks organization these past two seasons. We wish him well moving forward.
Several months later, there appears to be no love lost between Miller and the Sparks. Taking to social media over the weekend, the 56-year-old shared a gif from the film Good Will Hunting in which actor Matt Damons character delivers the signature line: How do you like them apples?! He additionally commented over the gif, Lets go! sparking a flurry of responses from cheerful Wings fans.
You got the last laugh, one X user wrote, with another adding: We love a petty king!
