An unearthed clip from the Golden Globes shows an awkward encounter between singer Bono and rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
While on stage, Sean, 54, who currently remains in jail awaiting his trial following a string of allegations, was seen embracing Bono in a seemingly inappropriate manner. Fans who have now seen the clip have accused the rapper of trying to kiss the U2 star on the cheek as they hugged – but Bono quite clearly dodged his attempt.
Sean was arrested on the back of alleged sex trafficking charges. The record executive was on stage to present the Best Original Song Award in 2014, which was won by U2. According to a report from RadarOnline, a source told the publication: “Loads of fans are saying the obvious discomfort with Bono’s body language all those years ago is a sign he knew there was something not right with Diddy — to say the least.”

The source was keen to add the U2 frontman had no idea about the accusations against him at the time. They went on to add: “There’s no way he knew about the depths of his depravity or he would have spoken up, but there was no way Bono was letting him anywhere near him, even 10 years ago.”
On the back of the report, social media platform X was inundated with comments by users who had a lot to say about the clip. One user said: “Diddy looking around to see if anyone saw him getting rejected by Bono.” Another added: “I’m no U2 fan but that cringey awkward hug between Bono and Diddy at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards was hilarious.” A third person added: “Diddy wasn’t liked by Bono. What did Bono know?”
Meanwhile a fourth social media user chimed in: “Bono didn’t like Diddy, wonder why, that was painfully awkward to watch but did he know something at this time, oh, and did Diddy just try [to] kiss Bono on the lips?” Last month Sean was arrested on alleged sex trafficking and racketeering charges and is being held in jail without bail.
Judge Andrew Carter denied the rapper bail on two separate occasions despite using both his and his mum’s home in Miami, which is believed to be worth $50million, as an assurance he would not flee. Sean pleaded not guilty to the charges. The allegations date back as far as 2008 and claim he abused, threatened and coerced women for years “to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct.”
