Christian Moore Stuns Red Sox with Walk-Off Blast.Yen

ANAHEIM — Christian Moore wasted no time making his name known across Major League Baseball. In just his third MLB game, the Los Angeles Angels’ top prospect delivered a performance straight out of a movie script — launching a game-tying home run in the eighth inning and a walk-off blast in the 10th to lift the Angels to a dramatic 7–6 win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old second baseman, who was called up earlier this week, showed poise well beyond his years, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored — all while handling the pressure of a national spotlight.

“That’s what you dream of when you’re a kid,” Moore said postgame. “You want to be in those moments.”

The Red Sox, who had built a 6–2 lead heading into the seventh, watched their bullpen falter late. A solo home run by Brandon Drury narrowed the deficit, and Moore’s towering two-run shot to left in the eighth tied the game 6–6, electrifying the Angel Stadium crowd.

Two innings later, Moore stepped to the plate again with the game on the line. Facing Red Sox reliever Greg Weissert, he crushed a 2-2 sinker into the right-field stands to seal the comeback win and set off a wild celebration at home plate.

“We couldn’t have scripted it better,” Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters. “He’s got the moment in his DNA.”

Moore, who starred at the University of Tennessee before being drafted 10th overall in 2024, is the Angels’ top-ranked prospect and now the youngest player in franchise history to record a multi-homer game within his first week in the majors.

The loss marked yet another late-inning disappointment for the Red Sox, whose bullpen has struggled throughout June. Starter Kutter Crawford pitched six solid innings, allowing two runs and striking out eight, but Boston’s relievers gave up five runs in the final four frames.

“You have to finish games,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “You can’t give a team like that extra chances.”

With the win, the Angels improved to 37–43, while the Red Sox fell to 41–39.

Moore’s instant impact has already sparked excitement among Angels fans, who have long awaited a homegrown star to build around. While the season remains a grind, Moore’s breakout night offered a glimpse of hope — and a reason to believe in the future.

“This is just the beginning,” Moore said, smiling. “I’m ready for whatever comes next.”
