Denise Richards was stunned to learn that her daughters, Sami, 20, and Lola, 19, had no clue their father, Charlie Sheen, was once married to Brooke Mueller—despite being present at the wedding.

During the March 11 episode of Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, the family was discussing Mueller while planning a memorial for a pet lizard she had recently lost. That’s when Lola hesitantly questioned whether Mueller had actually been married to Sheen.

“I think she was married to my dad… I actually… Yeah, they got married — I’m pretty sure,” she said.

In a confessional, Sami appeared equally confused.

“Was she married? She was married to him?” she asked her mother.

Denise, 54, couldn’t believe what she was hearing and burst into laughter.

“You didn’t know she was married to your dad?” she asked.

When Sami insisted that she had no idea, Denise reminded her:

“You were there!”

The revelation left Sami even more surprised, prompting her to ask how old she was at the time. Denise explained that the wedding took place in May 2008, when Sami was 4 years old, and Lola was nearly 3. The couple later divorced in 2011.

“I don’t know s—!” Sami exclaimed, to which Denise teasingly replied, “Clearly.”

A Complicated History Turned FriendshipLola Sheen; Brooke Mueller and Charlie Sheen; Sami Sheen

Mueller has made multiple appearances on Denise Richards & Her Wild Things since the show’s premiere on March 4. The two women have grown close over the years, though their relationship wasn’t always smooth.

In a September interview on the Hollywood Raw podcast, Mueller reflected on their past.

“[We] get along very, very well,” she said, while admitting, “It was not always good.”

She attributed their rocky history to her struggles with addiction, explaining:

“The reason why our relationship wasn’t good—it didn’t have to do with Denise. It was my addiction.”

Denise, who was married to Sheen from 2002 to 2006, even stepped up to help Mueller’s children at one point. In 2012, she took in Mueller and Sheen’s twin sons, Bob and Max, after child protective services became concerned about Mueller’s erratic behavior. She had custody of the boys until May 2013.

Mueller acknowledged Denise’s support, adding that even in more recent years, she has been a pillar of strength.

“In fact, she was really helpful with me recently too, last year,” she shared.

Now, with their past behind them, Denise and Mueller seem to have built an unlikely but meaningful friendship—one that even has room for lizard memorials and unexpected family revelations.
