Finn Wolfhard is proud of his scary television and film roles.

The actor, 21, tells PEOPLE about starring in various horror and thriller projects, from Stranger Things, The Turning and The Addams Family, to It: Chapters 1 and 2 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire.

When asked if he identifies as being a “scream king” — a play on the “scream queen” title given to an actress who has shaped the horror genre, like Jamie Lee Curtis, Neve Campbell or Jenna Ortega — Wolfhard says, “That’s such a huge compliment.”

“I’ve never heard that before. You’re the first to say it, but that’s really nice,” he continues, before adding, “I’m not sure. I don’t know if I’ve done enough horror movies yet.”

“I don’t really know what the qualifications are of being a scream queen or king, but it’s definitely really nice,” adds Wolfhard, who has partnered with Ring for its Great Ghost Search.Finn Wolfhard Split from Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, and "It"

According to Wolfhard, he is a big fan of Halloween, and his love for spooky season goes back to his childhood growing up in Vancouver, Canada.

“I love Halloween,” he says. “My mom used to make costumes for me growing up, so it was always a super fun time. Halloween is definitely one of my favorite days of the year.”Finn Wolfhard attends the premiere of "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on March 14, 2024 in New York City.

Wolfhard is also a big fan of all that comes with Halloween, including scaring oneself, whether through haunted houses or watching a horror film or series.

“I welcome that part of the human psyche,” the star says. “You’ve got to just allow yourself to be scared.”

Wolfhard is currently working with Ring — the home security and smart home device company that makes video doorbells, security cameras, alarm systems, smart lighting and more — as it asks its customers to search their Ring camera footage for evidence of ghosts.

“I’m lucky enough to be partnered with Ring, and I’m helping them find the scariest or spookiest footage in the nation,” Wolfhard says.

The Great Ghost Search, which runs from now until Nov. 1, or when 5,000 entries are received, will allow Ring users to submit their ghostly footage, from real paranormal proof to family and friends in costume, for the chance to win a grand prize of $100,000. Wolfhard will work alongside paranormal investigator Katrina Weidman to select the winning entry.

“Whether you catch a floating orb, an inexplicable shadow, or dress up as a friendly ghost, all supernatural sightings are welcome,” Ring said in a press release.
