Video:

This interesting scene was recorded at the MalaMala game reserve, Mpumalanga province, South Africa. Despite being inferior in number, the two lions still decided to rush to attack the wild buffalo herd of about 600. However, luck was not on their side.

In the clip, a herd of about 600 wild buffaloes is moving near the river to drink water. Seeing the opportunity coming, the two lions cautiously watched from afar. While the whole herd was losing focus, 2 lions immediately rushed to attack.

Seeing the lion rushing, the buffalo herd immediately ran away. However, a slow-moving buffalo was caught by a lion. Even if it was alone, the buffalo still tried to fight back fiercely.

While the wild buffalo was almost defeated by the lion, the other two buffaloes in the herd turned back to knock the predator and rescue the fellow. Immediately after that, all 3 buffaloes quickly left, leaving 2 predators watching in regret because they lost their delicious bait.

The African buffalo is a herbivore but has a muscular body. They are known as the “buffalo of death” or “the black death”. Their “brutal” and unpredictable temperament makes them especially dangerous. If angry, buffalo is ready to fight even with large predators such as lions.
