While distracted, a fledgling Impala was caught by a carpet python that slithered down from a fruit-laden bushwillow and caught it. A python disguised in a layer of rotting leaves, an unsuspecting antelope walked through this carpet of leaves and was immediately caught in a flash.
Squeezed, the antelope cries out for help, attracting the attention of a sharp-eared hyena. By the time the hyena arrived at the scene, the python had wrapped its jaws around the antelope’s legs and squeezed it to squeeze out its life.
The hyena clearly saw the bargain, it rushed to try to pull the antelope away from the python but failed. Then a game of cat and mouse begins.
The hyena was patient, trying hard to bite the python’s body to force it to let go of the antelope.
As a result, unable to withstand harassment and pressure from hyenas, the python gave up, spitting out the food that had reached its mouth. It hissed in exasperation and crept back into the thicket of trees. Next, the hyena devoured the baby antelope while the mother gazed painfully on.
