The Reason Why Manchester United Haven’t Sacked Amorim Yet.M1

September 5, 2025 by Hoang My

Rúben Amorim’s position as Manchester United manager will not be determined by hasty reactions to a few unfavorable short-term results.

The Times, citing sources from Manchester United, reports that the club’s leadership remains committed to their long-term vision with Rúben Amorim. The “Red Devils” have set their sights on winning the Premier League by 2028, and they believe dismissing Amorim at this stage would be a major setback to that project.

Amorim has endured a turbulent start to the 2025/26 season. Following a shocking defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup, the Portuguese coach even admitted that he considered resigning. However, United’s board did not place much weight on those remarks. Instead, they want to see resilience and determination from Amorim, rather than any sign of surrender.

Manchester United want Amorim to succeed, and the necessary resources will continue to be provided to support him. During the January 2026 transfer window, the club is expected to target reinforcements in midfield, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba identified as a top candidate.

That said, if Manchester United fail to qualify for any European competition at the end of this season, Amorim’s position will come under serious threat. Securing a European spot next season is deemed essential for the Portuguese manager.
