Volpe’s spectacular slide under the catcher and the Mariners’ combined efforts could not stop the Yankees from completing a miraculous comeback. What’s more, the Yankees had been trailing all the way to the final inning, and it seemed like everything was over.

“I knew as soon as the ball left Judge’s bat that I had to go all in. I didn’t think much – there was only one word in my head: home,” Volpe said, panting but with a gleam in his eye after the game.
